"I tried to learn how to observe my confined space and get a meaning out of it that can be translated in to art."

CV

I am a visual artist based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. After studying painting at Addis Ababa University’s School of Fine Arts and Design, I have worked as a studio artist and graphic designer. I have participated in exhibitions, residency programs, workshops and festivals in Africa, Europe and the US.

After focusing on painting for several years, my artistic practice shifted towards photography, video, and performance art. Since 2015, in addition to galleries and museums I have been using public spaces to create my art and inspire dialogue on social issues.
