Free Art Felega 2

The second project in the Free Art Felega series was realized in 2008 after Yenatfenta Abate had successfully completed her master's degree. The last five years since the diploma exhibition have been used intensively to develop the discussion in the artistic process. The development of her own artistic work motivated Yenatfenta Abate to realize this follow-up project together with the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa. The objective was clear, to be able to pass on the experiences and developments of the last few years to the younger generation of Ethiopian artists and to implement standards. As a result, 30 participants from a pool of more than 100 artists were named to work together, to discuss, to present each other during the artistic process in order to be able to show the work in an extensive exhibition. The focus of the work was on recurring work discussions to reflect on the practical work. Workshops were accompanied by panel discussions and by dealing with the works and the conception of selected renowned artists such as Franz Erhard Walther, Jonathan Meese or Hermann Nitsch. After the exhibition at the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa, the work was transported to Berlin with an exhibition in the well-known Peter Herrmann Gallery.
